Christian Novel Review

Having always been an avid reader, since becoming a Christian I have found a wealth of reading material in Christian bookshops and in various second hand bookshops. I have found that in Christian novels one often finds truths that help in one’s Christian walk. I enjoy reading about how the various characters deal with life, and I also find I am the richer for reading a really good Christian novel. Certain authors, through their books, give you a real insight into their joys and struggles, which I find very interesting. The books which I am going to review are those which I have really enjoyed, and have read at least twice – some books, for example the “Mark of the Lion “ series by Francine Rivers, I have read at least five times each. ALL THAT IT TAKES by NICOLE DEESE

Publication date 5/4/22
ALL THAT IT TAKES is another most enjoyable and inspirational novel by NICOLE DEESE with very real characters and a lovely story.
When Val moves to Spokane from Alaska with her ten year old son Tucker to take on a permanent position with her best friend Molly McKenzie, things do not turn out as she expects them to.
When Pastor Miles McKenzie arrives home late one night from his mission work in Mexico, that has just been terminated by the elders of Salt and Light church, he is surprised to find Val and Tucker living in his upstairs apartment.
It is a story about broken people finding restoration and joy, especially when they help others who are going through the same sort of problems. It is about relationships and family, and following where the Lord leads, rather than running away or hiding from difficult situations. This author is really good at describing her characters’ emotions and integrating a good Christian message into her novels. There is also a heartwarming romance and some humour, the latter mostly involving Tucker! I cannot recommend All That it Takes highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
